The Admiral's Head has been
a pub for more than 200 years, and when it was rebuilt virtually
from scratch in 1980 it retained a Georgian look and some of the
original features, including beams in the bar that came from a
17th century barn in Newmarket. Other eyecatching features include
a variety of sturdy wooden furniture, a slate floor and an ornate
brick front to the serving area. Since the spring of 2004 the
Admiral's Head has been in the capable hands of Jazmine and Rosario,
who have given the pub a big boost by introducing traditional
Italian specialities on to the menu. As well as traditional favourites
there are a a continually changing range of experiences to choose
from - please have a look at the menu
page. Three cask ales are always on tap, and there's a good list
of Old and New World wines to accompany the fine food. Two rooms
are available for private dinners, one with seats for up to 12,
the other catering for up to 40. The Admiral's Head, which is
closed on Sunday evening and all day Monday, is an easy drive
from the charming town of Woodbridge and the Sutton Hoo Anglo-Saxon
burial site, one of the most important archaeological sites ever
unearthed in Britain.
